JHEEP
JHEEP (JAHAMA Highland Estates Environmental Programme) is an exciting new way to make a big difference for nature.
We’re all concerned about threats to the natural environment, but it can be hard to identify practical things we can do to restore nature and protect wildlife. Focusing on achievable tasks, JHEEP comprises ten easily defined projects which can be rolled out across a range of different landscapes and habitats, from the smallest classroom to the highest mountain.
JHEEP offers something for everyone, and the programme will show that conservation doesn’t have to be complex or bogged down in bureaucracy -sometimes it’s simply a matter of making a start on something small.
JHEEP was launched in autumn 2021 and has already resulted in hundreds of bird and bat boxes being installed across the Estate. Wader scrapes and duck ponds have been created and small plantations installed. We are currently working on a summary of the work carried out to date and looking to measure the impact of our work
