Wildlife Spotting
Throughout the year, you will come across a wide array of wildlife from Stags to Sea Eagles, it’s possible to see it all while you’re on the Estates.
If you happen to be visiting during the Spring, our Estate flock of North Country Cheviot Sheep are lambing from end of March – May, which means you may witness some newborn lambs arriving on the Estate. And as they grow you’ll be witness to the gorgeous sight of gangs of lambs running, jumping and playing in the fields.
As part of our wader management scheme, our team are dedicated to ensuring the habitat for wading birds is optimal throughout the year by restoring and improving some of the wetlands and ponds. Around these areas you will likely see wading birds such as Lapwings, Red Shanks, Oyster Catchers, Golden Plover, Snipe and Curlews.
Looking for something higher up, you may see a curious little red squirrel or two and you'll likely see some buzzards around you, but if you're really lucky - you may even spot a majestic eagle flying overhead!
Across our Estates, you will come across more than just a Red Deer. We have 3 different breeds that roam around Glenshero; Red Deer, Fallow & Sika - have a good look around to see if you can identify the different breeds.
From end of September into early November, it is a noisy time of year as the Red Stags strut thoughout the rut - you will most commonly hear these impressive roars in the early hours of the morning and at dusk. While it is an incredible sight to behold, these are wild animals and we urge you to keep your distance.
When it comes to all wildlife, remember to be respectful of their environment, do not feed any animals you may come across and be sure to keep a safe distance.

Stalking
Our main offering for guests is accompanied stalking for red, sika and roe deer. We also have walked-up grouse shooting, duck flighting, rough shooting and occasional ptarmigan available by request on a first-come, first-served basis.
Overlooking JAHAMA Highland Estates, the Commando Memorial at Spean Bridge is dedicated to the men of the Commando special forces raised during World War II. The plaque on the stone plinth includes the words: “This country was their training ground”. That ground was chosen for a very good reason!
JAHAMA Highland Estates includes the toughest terrain in the UK, including the awe-inspiring north face of the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis. Ours is an inspiring yet harsh environment, where the weather can turn in an instant and conditions can be demanding. Feedback over many years has established that ours is the finest deer stalking ground in Great Britain and, as with so much worth striving for, the more you put in, the more you get out. We politely ask that you are reasonably ‘hill fit’ so that you can be safe and better enjoy an exceptional hunting experience in our spectacular landscape, led by our skilled Stalking team.
We run a waiting list for sporting opportunities and many guests seek to book well in advance. For more information, contact our team on highland@jahamaestates.com
